The "BRICS Semiconductor Intelligent Lighting Industry Summit and the 11th Meeting of the BRICS Semiconductor Lighting Cooperation Working Group" was held in Shenzhen from July 17th to 19th, 2024. The conference was hosted by the Secretariat of the BRICS Semiconductor Lighting Cooperation Working Group (the Secretariat of the International Semiconductor Lighting Alliance (ISA)).

The conference was conducted both offline and online, with a total of over 100 participants. Among them, 11 representatives from BRICS governments, research institutions, and companies, as well as 6 representatives from "BRICS+" countries including Belarus, Vietnam, Thailand, and the International Energy Agency's 4E program, attended the meeting. Li Qian, Deputy Director of the EVERFINE Optoelectronics Research Institute, was invited to participate in the conference and delivered a report titled "Progress in Efficient Intelligent Lighting Optical Radiation Measurement Technology and Standardization".

The three days conference consisted of three sessions: the "BRICS and BRICS+ Semiconductor Lighting Development Forum", the "BRICS Semiconductor Intelligent Lighting Industry Summit", and the "International Standardization Seminar on Semiconductor Lighting for BRICS and BRICS+ Countries". A total of 30 insightful reports were presented, focusing on semiconductor lighting industry policies, research and development, markets, advancements in intelligent lighting technology, as well as national, regional, and international standardization efforts. Representatives from BRICS and BRICS+ countries engaged in deep and detailed discussions on these topics.

As the first report of the conference, Mr. Sergio Celaschi, a researcher at the Center for Information Technology (CTI) of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation of Brazil, delivered a presentation titled "Current Status, Challenges, Needs, and Trends of the SSL Industry in Brazil (Including the China-Brazil SSL Joint Innovation Center Cooperation Project)". In this report, he provided a detailed introduction to the China-Brazil SSL Joint Innovation Center cooperation project, in which the equipment used primarily came from EVERFINE. This included EMC immunity measurement equipment, opto-electronic measurement system, and goniophotometer. At that time, coinciding with the COVID-19 pandemic, Brazilian technicians, under the remote guidance of EVERFINE’s engineers, successfully completed the construction of the laboratory, equipment installation, debugging and actual testing operations. Brazilian officials highly praised the implementation of this project as well as the equipment and services provided by EVERFINE.

Brazilian CTI expert introduces the "China-Brazil SSL Joint Innovation Center Cooperation Project" and some of the equipment adopted from EVERFINE

For a long time, EVERFINE has placed great emphasis on cooperation with BRICS and BRICS+ countries. In fact, this is not the first time that EVERFINE has participated in the BRICS Semiconductor Lighting Conference. As early as 2017, EVERFINE hosted the BRICS Semiconductor Lighting Conference, engaging in deep discussion with representatives from various countries on semiconductor lighting detection technology and leading them on a tour of EVERFINE's lighting detection demonstration laboratory. At the BRICS Semiconductor Lighting Standards Working Conference held in 2022, Deputy Director Li Qian from EVERFINE was invited as an expert to answer standard technical questions raised by BRICS representatives. Among the participants in this conference, there were many old friends of EVERFINE. Besides CTI from Brazil, government laboratories and enterprises from India, Russia, Thailand, Vietnam, South Africa, and other countries have also purchased equipment from EVERFINE and maintained excellent cooperative relationships with the company.

In her report, Deputy Director Li Qian introduced the progress of optical radiation measurement technology and standardization, particularly focusing on the standardization and measurement techniques for flicker frequency, electrical harmonics, and standby power consumption of lighting products by international and regional organizations, in response to the measurement and evaluation needs of efficient and intelligent lighting. The report was highly praised by the participating representatives, and following the presentation, representatives from multiple countries further exchanged ideas on detection and standard technologies.

Under the leadership of Professor Pan Jiangen, the Chairman & Chief Scientist of EVERFINE, the company has established a photoelectric detection research and standardization team with lighting as its starting point. They have always been focused on the cutting-edge technology of global photoelectric measurement, dedicated to solving urgent industry problems, and contributing to the healthy and efficient development of the industry. As a result, Professor Pan Jiangen was honored with the "Outstanding Contribution Award for the Development of the Global Semiconductor Lighting Industry" (AOID) by the International Semiconductor Lighting Alliance (ISA) in November 2023.
